Coyote Song Trail

We did this short hike (walk) as our farewell to Colorado. It's so weird leaving a place that you love and not knowing when you'll be back again.

Thank goodness Dena had back pockets in case anyone got thirsty.

The White City

We recently visited my brother in Chicago. He teaches writing at The University of Chicago. I made Sam listen to The Devil in the White City on audiobook before we went and I think his highlight of the trip was when Ben took us to the archival library at U of C and showed us original photos, tickets, etc. from the World's Fair in Chicago.
     We visited the Art Institute of Chicago, The Bean, the Aquarium, Eataly, Navy Pier, and did the river architectural tour which I would highly recommend. Ben took us to an amazing Thai restaurant and Jenny's Icecreams (the best and maybe the most expensive ice cream I've ever had). And in case you can't tell from the photos, we were freezing the whole time. 40 degrees in Chicago is very different from 40 degrees in Utah.

We also visited Harry and Sarah who live near  Detroit. Harry works for Ford so we went to the Ford Museum which was HUGE. I'm really proud of us for making it through an entire Tiger's Game considering how cold it was. We had so much fun seeing these two. 

Colorful Eggs and Giraffes

We spent a week in Boise over Easter. We died eggs, had an Easter egg hunt, went to the Boise zoo, and Sam and his parents took me golfing for my first time ever. Turns out it's kind of fun (and I'm really bad at it but that was no surprise). At the zoo Scout got to feed the giraffes lettuce and she loved it. She wasn't scared of their huge long tongues at all.

The Big Island

My family's Christmas present this year was a trip to the Big Island. (Because that's what you do when you can get airfare for $400 round trip).

We couldn't go to the top of Mauna Kea because of 100mph winds so we enjoyed the view from a little further down with 60mph winds. 

Volcanoes National Park

We snorkeled in some tide pools on the southern tip of the island. The coral was so colorful. Best snorkeling I've ever done!

"There is no point to swim diapers, let's just let her wear her swim suit with nothing under it." -Us right before Scout pooped in her swim suit.

Cracking nuts at a macadamia nut factory. 

My mom bought the cousins matching dresses.

We saw so many turtles and whales!
